My Story

My Wedding Day

Melissa A. Dobson, Melissa Dobson PR & Marketing

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am a public relations and marketing consultant in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. After a travel agency downsizing following September 11, 2001, I enrolled at the State University of New York at Buffalo and finished my Bachelor’s degree in Communications/PR and Advertising.

Long story short, I fell in love, moved to Manhattan with my dream guy and married him. I worked as a press and events coordinator on Boston Beer Company’s Samuel Adams Beer, 7UP PLUS, and Snapple beverages at Deutsch, Inc and also spent some time on the advertising side of the agency.

A move to Corning, NY opened doors to the wine life where I am consulting on public relations and marketing strategies for wineries and other small businesses.  Lately, I’ve been asked to speak to groups about social media and in turn, have learned from attendees of our interactive workshops.

I have a voracious appetite for all things wine and public relations and hope to make a difference in the New York wine industry by helping wineries find and keep an open dialogue with their enthusiasts. And I hope to free up some of the time the do-it-all winery owner spends on marketing and public relations for their wineries. So on that note, if you’re a winery that would like to show off your tasting room, vineyards, or event, don’t hesitate to contact me… I promise not to pester you for your business, but you just might want to talk over creative ideas and business challenges after you meet me.

For more details on how I can help you achieve your winery PR & Marketing goals, please see Melissa Dobson PR & Marketing page

One of my dreams is to have a cottage on the Finger Lakes for my family someday. Cheers to you!
